who am i?

my name is david praznik, generation '76 and i'm a graphic and user interface designer. i grew up in a small town - velenje, where i was raised by two lovely people: mom and dad. i've learned lots of life lessons and practical skills at that time that still come in handy. later on, in the year of the new millenium, i moved to ljubljana, the capital of slovenia (not slovakia). i have spent 2 years and a half at the institute and academy of multimedia, where i was also a lecturer for adobe photoshop, adobe illustrator and adobe indesign. for the past few years i am mainly involved with user interface design, user experience and vector graphics. however, i don't think of myself strictly as a webdesigner, because i still like to design for print and my passion for logo design is alive and kicking. currently i work for an advertising agency in ljubljana.

what can you find on this site?

this is the second big update of my info project that represents my personal portfolio from where i show my work to you dear visitor, my friends, future clients and future employers. the first two galleries are part of my projects collection. some visuals shown here are from my previous jobs, some from my current job and some from my freelance collection.
there is also another gallery that represents my passion for photography. in my spare time, especially during my travels, i always take my camera with me. sometimes i just grab it and start taking pictures for the pure fun of it. i love photography. it's creative and it preserves the nice memories from the past.

how was this site designed?

since my previous version from the '06 (which won many awards and was featured in many web showcase galleries) was slowly becoming outdated, it was time to create a new, even more project-related showcase. i wanted a simple and clean one-page layout with an easy-to-use navigation. the first layout was sketched on a piece of paper and later on, when things started to make more sense, the idea was completely realized in illustrator (gazillion versions). some of the earlier versions were based on grey and white color composition, but i realized that a darker layout (for this portfolio) would be more visible and safer for viewing. backend is based on joomla with modifications for a better user experience. fancybox is the script i use for the galleries. the code is 100% css and xtml valid and seo optimised.
